Speedo and Tach Issue
(1/1)
scudda:
Hi Guy's,
Hoping for some advice...I have a 95 FXDL. Had some work done at an Indy a couple of weeks ago. They did have the Tank off. Haven't had a chance to rid e much since may be once a week. bike is running great. Usually keep the bike on a battery tender. Yesterday went out to go for a ride and the battery was dead..nothing would bring it back...so today picked up a new battery from Harley and went out for a nice long ride.
So here is my issue. The tach does not start at zero now, weather the bike is on or off. with the bike off the needle sites at about the 500 rpm spot. while running it works but I know its off...Usually I have seen that when cruising around 60mph it would be at 300rpm or so..today it was at 2500.
Also it now seems the my speedo needle does not move smoothly..it is very Jerky as it goes up or down.
Again the bike is running great
Any ideas of where to start looking?
Thanks.

Is that a digital speedo or cable? If they had the tank off you may have a bad ground or connection someplace.
On my Heritage, all the plugs are between the tanks [I have two]. Not sure where they re on your bike.
If you just had it done, I'd be heading back and let them find it though!
