Need help with cam choice T-Man 625 0r 590
« on: Tuesday, August 14, 2012. 10:51:48 AM. »
I have the 2010 version of the SE Pro stage 4 103 kit in my 2011 Wide Glide. The SE 260 cam just doesn't cut it for me. I have done some research and one of these two are my choice so far. This Fall I will also have the 110+ heads ported and cleaned up and CCed by either Big Boyz or Hillside cycles. I'm told these heads are a bit overkill for the 103 but if worked on by a good porter they can be great heads and make great power. So back to the cam right now my TQ really doesn't hit till 4000 and up I'd like around 2500 give or take but carry out the hp thru the top. According to the Tman site either of these cams will do that so thats why I'm looking for some feedback. Really not chasing dyno numbers but would like to be in the 115/115 area so which cam? Thanks for the help Mark

If your already at Stage IV,personally I would be looking at the 625,with head work it should wake it right up.       Coff 06

Work the heads and look at the 662-1.  Call Don (Dewey's) as I think he has been working with TMans cams in the recent past and has some good combinations.  I think you can do better than 115/115.

Right now according to Big Boyz calculater I'm around the 10.2 to 10.5 range I say this cause I don't know what the 10.5 SE hi comp pistons CC at so using a average and low ball figure I came up with the two numbers just changing the ccs of the pistons in the equation. According to Tmans site I'm in the proper range for both cams. I also can if needed up the comp. in needed when the heads are done and I will go with a .030 HG when everything goes back together instead of the .045 stock HG. So I can realistical expect 115 hp and 115 tq with the 625 which is the cam I was leaning towards. Was just worried I was defeating some of the purpose of changing the cam since the SE 260 is a 609 lift but other than that its nothing like the T-Man 625.

:agree:

I have used most of T-Mans cams and the 662-1 are my favorite but they do like at least 10:8.1 compression.

In a 103 the 590 likes a bit more compression, but you are close.

I made 107 HP with the T man 625s in my 95" with 10.5 compression and T mans stage 2 heads. crossed 100 ftlb at about 3100~ rpms.
In a 103 I'd bet your goal of 115/115 is very much within reach.  :chop:

Tman 590 or Wood tw8 will 115-120 in a 103 with good heads.

The 590's will work well, if you get compression around 10.6-10.8:1.

It's the duration, not the lift that decides where the cam comes on at.     Coff 06

The 110+ heads on your engine have a 95cc combustion chamber, and with an intake close of 55* on the 260 your compression is too low for lower rpm performance. some milled off the heads and the tr-625 and .30 HG will help get it where you want it.
