2007 Streetglide wheel swap
« on: Tuesday, July 31, 2012. 06:29:38 AM. »
I have a 07 Streetglide with a spoke rear wheel. I purchased a wheel from a 08 Streetglide that has the cush drive and disc brake on it. The parts guy at the local HD dealer told me there were different bearings for ABS and non-
ABS brakes. First, how can I tell if it is or is not ABS, and what other parts do I need to make the swap?

the edge of the outer bearing race on ABS units has a trigger ring built into it, for a speed sensor to read off of.   Otherwise, the bearing I expect would be the same, and if you are not running ABS, either bearing would do the job.

The rear wheel from an 08 with the IDS drive requires a different spacer on the left (about 2 mm) to make room for the wider sprocket set up. On the right you can use the stock spacer from the original rear wheel. With ABS there is no spacer on the right as the ABS pick up takes the space.
2008 has a new 25 mm axle, the 2007 has a 1 inch 25.4 mm axle. You need an axle or matching wheel bearings.
