Shock interchangability

                  Does anybody out there know if I can use a set of dyna shocks on a 2010 bagger? Looking to get rid of the air shocks. All opinions welcome and thanks in advance.

I dont have first hand knowledge but agree with coyote. I did spend 1500 on a set of ohlin shocks with external reservoir i wish i didnt. Rather have bought the reg 13 inch bagger air shocks

My stock Dyna shocks were a bit soft when my gal was with me.. I moved up to a heavier set now and run them on the second setting..

Interesting. What don't you like about the Ohlins? I was considering a pair.

progressive 412s with hd springs for $210 from Easternpeformance are hard to beat...You can spend a lot more money but for $210 the 412s blow the Harley shocks away

aw heck I have new take off pair of stock air shocks I will trade you for lol.

                   I have these Ohlins (HD 927 S36HR1C1 $ 1,752) taken from the Ohlin web site.  While I am told they are the best shock for a harley money can buy I would not have got them if I could do it over again. If I were to buy the Ohlins it would be one of the middle series shocks as they are easier to adjust.

I have the sag set properly on mine. They are better than the Stock street glide shocks, they have no choice cause of the longer stroke, but they are not like a dirt bike shock soaking up the bumps. I still feel the road and still go air born from time to time over dips and rises in the Bay area Highways especially highway 85 and 280. HWY 101 isnt bad. I dont feel the bridge lips as a hard impact any longer but still feel them.  I have adjusted the compression as much as 6 over and 6 under base line they are sent and have come to find the best ride. I just isnt as great as I read on forums from what others have stated they felt. The road didnt just disappear for me. I just dont get it sending shock waves up my back anymore.

I would rather have spent the lesser money and dealt with things.

  slow09,  Hate to continue to hijack but have to ask..did you back off the comp. damping some,  letting the spring do the work, allowing the suspension to travel and adding some rebound damping for control?  Rick

I haven't done the dyna to touring shock swap, but i have taken some touring shocks and bolted them to a sporty with no problems. My guess is they will fit.

Sorry, too.  Wouldn't that tend to cause the shocks to "pump down" (get progressively shorter over a quick series of bumps)?

  glens,  slow09 mentioned that he goes air born at times over dips and rises...rebound damping partially controls that.  I mentioned going lighter on comp. damping to allow the suspension to compress more/faster (softer ride) if possible as long as the bike isn't bottoming or traveling too far as set.  IMO you would have to dial in a far amount of rebound damping before the suspension would have trouble tracking shudder/ripple bumps...way more yet before it would start to pack down on successive bumps.  Ohlins recommended settings are no doubt close..just a little tweaking to personal taste.  These bikes in stock form are soft sprung which allows the suspension to blow through travel on bumps/rises and then lack of rebound damping lets it pop back up,  jack-in-the-box style launching the bike and rider,  cool if you like spending time out of the saddle.   Rick
