You can have a small leak and not know it. The oil could burn off on the exhaust or blow back on the back tire. I'm talking about a very minor leak. Ask me how I know. Do your self a favor and check your trans oil level every now and again.

I run Redline HDS. If there was a leak, I would know it. (Ever seen one leak??) When I change it, I dump a quart in and install the plug. I never pull the stick again until it's time to change.
I'm pretty sure if it all leaked out I'd still be OK with that stuff.

I do have to say with the older dipsticks the one's that screwed into the chrome cover you actually get a higher reading with the dipstick resting on the threads. Probably because when there resting on the threads they are more angled to the bottom of the trans.

I run redline HDS also, if you had a leak you should know it. Redline HDS is pink like the stuff you take for a tummy ache :bike:

Sorry Coyote. I was running Redline when it happened to me. I had not checked the tranny level in months, maybe 8k miles.
When I did , the level was only on the tip of the stick. I saw nothing and smelled nothing. I was doing mostly highway miles at the time. Took the exhaust off and replaced the gasket. End of problem. My dealer had already done this under warranty.
I pray that you don't jinx yourself.
