Exhaust design...

I have a friend with an old sporty that wants to make a new pipe for it that dosen't drag on the ground...
He wants to run the pipe right under the carb and straight back...This will leave the back pipe very short...
I have seen pipes like this from guys like Ralph Randolph that claim they give good performance...
What effect does making the rear pipe short have on a 2 into 1...Thanks...

Anyone...He welded it up yesterday...I will get a pic...I donated a T.H. muffler...it should be interesting...and loud...!
